Happy Wednesday, W2Beauty community! I wanted to share my skin type, skin concerns, and questions with you all, and I’d LOVE to hear your feedback!
My skin type: Combination/sensitive, mid-20s, live in California
I’m fairly dry on my cheeks (that tend to be pretty sensitive), and I’m also somewhat normal/oily on my T-zone.
My skin concerns:
1) Hyperpigmentation: I have a few scar-reducing products in my arsenal, but I’d love any recs!
2) Super dry lips — like super, super dry. No matter what I put on my lips, it just gets sucked in and leaves no moisture. I’ve tried the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, which I really love, and it does last throughout the night, but then during…[Read more]
ooo, good to know because I just ordered the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I bet my dry lips can out-dry your dry lips. Seriously, mine start molting (not flaking — MOLTING) like every couple of days. Lip oils are HUGE in my arsenal. Pick any from Etude House, Nature Republic, Missha, they’re all good. Don’t cover with a chapstick. Treat with a lip oil.
Ooh, I haven’t tried any lip oils in the past! They weren’t even on my radar. Thanks for the rec!
My hyperpigmentation is the deep, persistent kind that mostly Asians get (thanks Dad). So for me, it’s a constant, never-ending battle. I always have these serums in my arsenal: niacinamide, vitamin C (stabilized, in a dark bottle, and well-formulated), arbutin or licorice, and retinoids. Galactomyces is a good one, too. SanDaWha (do they do anything wrong?!?) Vitamin C Whitening Essence is a soothing version of vitamin C (and it’s in a dark bottle, unlike Klairs), Graymelin Galactomyces is good, and I’m about to start the Eclado Professional Formula Ampoule Vitamin.
Ooh I’m so curious about the Graymelin! That brand’s packaging just really speaks to me.
If you’re talking about that apothecary style packaging (which I like too), they just changed it so it’s more minimal (think bright blue band). At least the Galactomyces one I got.
I just ordered the COSRX Galactomyces essence, so I’m hopeful! And I’ve got a tiny sample of SanDaWha’s Vitamin C essence, so I’m definitely gonna incorporate that into my routine.
My skin type: Normal with dry spells, especially during dry weather periods in SoCal. Funnily enough, I tend to get dry on my forehead while my cheeks typically stay normal. Not sensitive or reactive to most things.
My skin concerns:
1. Aging. I’m 37 and not getting any younger! Hahahaaa. To deal with this, I prefer vitamin C, retinoids during the colder months when there’s less change of excessive sun exposure, and supplementary help from products that contain ginseng or galactomyces. I love extracts!
2. Sunspots/hyperpigmentation: I freckle super easily and had really terrible melasma when I was pregnant some years ago. To deal with this, vitamin C and retinoids…[Read more]
Thanks for sharing, Jude! Wow, I never thought of applying lip balms/oils when your lips are still damp. It seems like it wouldn’t absorb as well, for some reason! I’m gonna try this tomorrow.
I apply my body oils and lotions when my skin is a little damp, so it makes sense that it would help with lip balms or oils. Argh, now when I get out of the shower or finish washing my face, it’ll be a race to slather on product everywhere when my skin is still damp, hahaha.
First off, hi I am Sage & I am new around here 🙂
My skin type is Oily, I am 20 (turning 21 Sept.15) living in Houston, Texas
I can get very oily around my nose area, no matter how many times I blot, I still come out oily.
1. Dark spots- They have lighten up, but I still have to use a orange concealer to cover those up.
2.Dry lips as well: I use Carmex mixed with my favorite clear lip gloss. Lasts all day & night too!
3. Pop-up Breakouts: It is very hard to gauge when there is a breakout coming, but I’ve tried, still have some issues with keeping that away.
I really like the post btw 🙂
It’s nice to meet you Sage! Thanks for sharing your routine. 🙂 For pop-up breakouts, have you tried the COSRX Master Pimple Patches? They’re really great for when a breakout occurs suddenly; it’s really good out sucking out the gross stuff overnight while you sleep! Here’s the link if you want to check it out: https://w2beauty.com/product/cosrx-acne-pimple-master-patch/
oh my thanks ! I will check it out
I love Carmex, especially when I feel a cold sore coming on. My nose gets super oily, too (and my chin). I stash blotting papers everywhere, haha. I got the Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder and that stuff really does absorb excess oil, even throughout the day!
i have combination skin type my skin problem is hyperpigmentation and acne scar right now im using the fifty shades of snail for 3 days but i think is doing good on my skin…my lips tend to dry i always have my lip balm from tonymoly…
Ooh, how do you like the Light & Bright box? And which Tonymoly lip balm do you use?
i love it so much im using it for 3 days i can see the difference my skin brighten than before and it feels hydrated..😀😀i use the lip balm in apple case🍏🍏
Skin type: Dry/sensitive, late twenties, lives in the Pacific Northwest. My skin tends to freakout due to excessive stress and I frequently get pimples on my cheeks and jawline when this occurs.
My skin concerns:
1) Redness in my cheek area and below my nose! I don’t have rosacea but the redness around my cheeks seems to be more pronounced when I am stressed out.
2) Being incredibly sensitive to new products. This is a pretty vague concern however I feel like when I was younger my skin was more on the normal type side and I could try products without any issue. Now however any introduction of a new product sends my skin kind of wonky. I’m trying to look at the positive however…[Read more]
Hiii Jerrica! Re: #2, I totally feel you! When I was in my teens, I could put whatever on my face and it didn’t matter. My skin got more sensitive over a short period of time. Maybe it’s the environment, pollution, etc….sighhh.
I’ve always wanted to try the Agave lip mask, now I might have to try it! Thanks for the recommendations!
Hmm, I’m gonna have to think about that Bite lip mask. I just ordered the Laneige lip sleeping mask so I’ll see how that goes. My poor lips — they get last priority when it comes to my skin!
I have a Combination skin type and I’m dry on my cheeks , and I’m also normal/oily on my T-zone and i have a dry lips ..
My skin type: Combination / normal, mid 30s, live in the Netherlands.
1. Acne scars: I have a lot of small holes on my cheek, due to picking bad acne in my teens.
2. Aging: time to think about those future wrinkles.
3. Lack of glow: I have a bit of a dull complexion.
Any tips? 🙂
Have you ever tried ginseng @sophiebxl? @judechao swears by it to give her complexion a glow.
Not yet! But I will put it on my list, thank you! 😁
Hi, my skin type is normal/combination, mid 20s and I live in Italy.
My skin concern:
1. hormonal acne
2. acne scars and hyperpigmentation
4. dry lips
I loooove Italy! What do you use for hormonal acne @silvia?
Up to now I used a cream that my dermatologist recommended to me, but I would like to try the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch and the COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner.
I first saw this on Jude/fiddysnail’s Instagram story. I spent about 20 minutes going down the rabbit hole of comments! Crazy how some brands don’t put their customers first. Has anyone else had (or heard of) any bad experiences with a brand like this? *thinking of making a black list for brands 😈*
That was some sheer insanity!
It makes you wonder what they were thinking. I mean, I wouldn’t say that in a personal context, much less a professional one! And in public!
A black list could be useful! No bad esxperience yet…
The sheet mask addiction is real 👀 My Moksha mask haul from KCON2017!
wow sheet mask i love the green tea and aloe😍😍😍
Ooh, I’ve yet to try the aloe one! Next on my list 🙂
yes its very hydrating and soothing i like the smell too😀😀😀i think im addicted to aloe product
Which one do you like the most?
So far I really like the Honey and Shea cream masks for moisture (I’ve got pretty dry skin on my cheeks)! Yesterday, I threw the Tea Tree essence mask in the fridge for a bit — it was SO nice, cooling and soothing in this heat!
I just did Shea butter this morning and honey earlier this week. Between that and the Romand cushion … my skin has been very happy. Though you have to try the Goodal Black Charcoal Oxygen Radiance. I’m reviewing it now and I LOVE. Even more than the Tea Tree mask. (Haha, sorry for making your list grow!)
Sorry not sorry 😂
I love the honey one! Ordered the whole set for testing! 🙂
I recently tried the 7 skin method using Klairs’ infamous Supple Preparation Facial Toner, and wow. I /loved/ the results! My face felt bouncier and super super hydrated. I followed the toner with a 2-3 drops of the SanDaWha Camellia Face Oil and a layer of the Ultra Rich Hydrating Camellia Floral Water Cream (+ sunscreen, of course).
That night, I went to a 7-hour long, hot & sweaty music festival, but I didn’t get oily in my T-zone at all (I normally do) and I had a healthy looking glow that lasted all night!
Has anyone else tried the 7 skin method? I’d love to know what toner you used!
How do you like the SanDaWha floral water cream? And that’s it, I’m getting that Klairs toner!
I reallyyyy like the floral water cream! It feels so luxurious, like whipped butter, without feeling heavy at all. It absorbs nicely, too! I wear it during the day!
I actually do a 3 layers when I have time and can already feel a difference! I really have to push it to the 7 layers .. or in between.. 5 layers ?
I was watching Gothamista’s video on the 7 skin method — she did say that people can start in increments of 3 layers, 5 layers, 7 layers!
I need this toner, I swear! I usually do 3skin during the summer.
I hope you always get the best results with these products, and my favorite toner who i use it is Klairs’ 😍
I’ve used Nooni Seed Essence Toner but I’m going to get Klairs soon! (After my no-buy august!) 😅
Recently bought my first vanity and I have to say — I never knew how much I needed a vanity until now! 😍
Your vanity looks awesome!!
Thanks! I love it!
omg this is so cute! I love those makeup bags. Where did you get them?
It’s from my favorite place in the whole world — Target!
Wait, is that a drop-down vanity? How does it work? I looooove looking at organized vanities.
#vanitygoals Is it a drop-down or is it a lift up? It almost looks like the top portion with the mirror lifts up and then Ruth would have a pretty awesome little desk/table. Give us details, Ruth! (Please!)
Omg sorry Anna, I’m blind. I just realized the mirror is on the wall and it’s not attached to the vanity -____-
LOL, wow, it’s like an illusion! It sort of does look like the mirror is on the wall, haha. But you’re right, it’s actually a mini desk that lifts up with the mirror attached to the back of the “lid”!
Where is this magical vanity from?
It’s from a Korean furniture store in Koreatown, LA!
It actually lifts up! The mirror is on the back of the vanity “lid”!
Oh I have same one!! 🙂
your vanity look awsome is organize😀😀i hope mine i can do as organize as yours
Question of the day: what’s your fave K-beauty product and why?
This one is super tough, for obvious reasons! But I’d have to say that one of my current favorite products to use right now is the Moksha Dear Shea Butter Mask Sheet — and I just generally LOVE incorporating sheet masks into my routine. It’s one way that I practice self-care weekly.
(I’m also really enjoying the other products shown in the photo, especially the SanDaWha cream and camellia oil!)
I feel like my favorite products change on a monthly basis but at the moment it’s The Face Shop’s Dr. Belmeur Clarifying Spot Calming Ampoule! It’s such a light scent and it’s “thinner” than a night time ampoule in my opinion so I love using it in the morning to give my skin that extra layer of moisture. I also like wearing it in the morning because it helps calm my skin when it’s feeling extra red and grumpy 🙂 I spy the Klairs toner in your pic too and that’s next on my list to try!
Although a lot of the products have changed, here’s my most up-to-date skincare routine! 💕
I have 4 of these same products! 😮
Hahah, yesss, we’re on the same K-beauty wavelength!
What do u think about laneige lip sleeping pack ?
I want try it in feuture ..
i have 3 of these product and they really good 😀😀😀
One thing I love more than beauty and skincare: coffee. 😆
Nice photo! ^^
Hehe, thank you! 🙂
